    Twenty-one
My uncle (not by blood) has been dying to take me to Skates by the Bay when I turned 21. Not to celebrate, but just so I can enjoy a nice meal and a beautiful view, sippin’ on a drink. But I was still in New York when I turned 21 and was busy for days after that. So almost 2 months later, we finally went with my family and his. I got to spend time with the people close to my heart, enjoyed an amazing meal, sat in one of the best views in the restaurant, and had a delicious pomegranate martini. It was a great night, simple but hard to forget.

I made lumpia today before the meeting and to cover up the fried smell stuck in my hair I curled it and sprayed my favorite Suave hairspray that smelled oh-so-good! :) It came out pretty awesome (if I may say so) even if it was only to cover up the smell. HAHA! Just finished making more for some friends tomorrow. Bout to fall asleep to some anime. ;) GNIGHT!

I’ve been out of school for about 7 months now, and I don’t think I’ve ridden BART since then. But today, I decided to go for the heck of it (well I had to go back to the school office to settle some paperwork). Anyways, while on the train, I started to reminisce the times in NY. 75% of the time I was there, Subway and Bus were my main source of transportation and LOTS of walking! I don’t think I would have survived without this AWESOME map. (I learned how to use it pretty quick too, I had no choice, lol). For the most part, it was great! I had my friends with me and we goofed around in our new surroundings. The fear that I originally had, with all the nasty stories of New York subway, quickly lifted and was replaced by curiosity. There were performers outside the station, on the platform, and even on the train (I was secretly hoping Bluey Robinson would pop out somewhere, hehe). It was surprisingly an interesting combination of cultural gumbo, and I was very much intrigued. Not saying the Subway is all fun, we did run into some creepers, but even that was interesting. Haha.

Here are the guys pretending to be scurrrred! (LOL!)

During the last 2 days of my trip, however, I was all by my lonesome. And it wasn’t too bad actually. Thanks to Jehovah, I always made it to my next destination safely. There was one night I was supposed to meet my friends at the Empire State Building, so I went up by myself, as I’ve been doing the whole day, and all of the employees, who were very kind btw, realized that I wasn’t from the area and were shocked that I was by myself. I told them not to worry, I was going to meet my friends on the 64th floor so I wouldn’t be alone too long. Unfortunately, my friends decided to leave because I took to long and they were hungry, so I actually did end up being by myself, I think all the guards up there were shocked to see a female tourist all alone, but they seemed to keep an eye on me and I even got one of them to take a picture of me next to the Chrysler building (I won’t post it, since it was a horrible picture, LOL). But the view was incredible, and even though I was solo, I still enjoyed! ^^

Here is a picture of the view from the ESB.

It was pretty late when I got on the Subway on the way back to Queens, where I was staying. I was exhausted from all the walking and waking up early to catch my bus from Albany to NYC, so when I got on the train, I was ecstatic to find a seat. But I got a little too comfortable and fell asleep. -_- Once I heard “Queens” I got off immediately, not knowing that there were 2 stops with “Queens” in it. I started to panic, but I couldn’t call any of my local friends for help since I was underground, so I prayed, took a deep breath, and took out my handy map, and finally found my way. But it was already dark out and I still had 5 blocks to walk by myself from the station to my friend’s apartment. I took my phone out and dialed my friend’s number: “Talk to me while I’m walking coz I’m scared to death right now, and if you hear me scream, call 911, or I’ll just see you in Paradise.” HAHA! Yeah I overreacted, but it made the walk seem shorter and I got to the apartment safely. ^^
My New York experience would have been completely different if I didn’t take the Subway, but I don’t regret it at all. I really felt like I was a New Yorker for those 10 days. And I can’t wait to go back and experience it more!

This dress is gorgeous! If it was longer and a different color, it would be perfect for the wedding. :) *searches for a similar dress*
